William Shakespeare, often called the Bard of Avon, is the greatest playwright in the English language. Born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, he married Anne Hathaway at 18 and had three children. He moved to London in the late 1580s to pursue a career in theatre. Over the next two decades, he wrote 39 plays, 154 sonnets, and two long narrative poems. He retired to Stratford around 1613 and died in 1616 at the age of 52. Shakespeare's legacy lives on through endless adaptations on stage and screen. His characters and stories still resonate across cultures and generations. He was as much a keen observer of human nature as a creator of unforgettable drama. Ernest Hemingway was a groundbreaking 20th-century writer known for his concise, impactful style. Born in 1899 in Oak Park, Illinois, he served as an ambulance driver in World War I, shaping his literary themes. His first major novel, The Sun Also Rises (1926), captured the disillusionment of the "Lost Generation." A Farewell to Arms (1929) was inspired by his wartime romance with nurse Agnes von Kurowsky. A journalist and adventurer, he covered wars and sought thrills in Spain, Africa, and Cuba. The Old Man and the Sea (1952) earned him a Pulitzer Prize and contributed to his Nobel Prize in Literature (1954) Despite his tough public image, Hemingway struggled with depression and alcoholism. He married four times and had turbulent relationships with friends and family. In later years, his health and mental state declined, leading to his tragic suicide in 1961. Hemingway’s influence on literature is immense, shaping modern storytelling. His minimalist style continues to inspire writers worldwide. Both celebrated and controversial, he remains one of the most fascinating literary figures of all time.

Sabu Dastagir, born in 1924 in Mysore, India, rose to fame after being discovered as a young mahout and starring in Elephant Boy (1937). His natural screen presence led to major roles in iconic adventure films like The Thief of Bagdad (1940) and Jungle Book (1942), making him Hollywood’s first Indian star. During World War II, he served as a decorated tail gunner in the U.S. Army Air Forces, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, his career declined due to typecasting, though he continued acting in films like Song of India (1949). He married Marilyn Cooper, had two children, and settled in the U.S. In 1951, he visited India as a celebrated star but remained primarily in Hollywood. Tragically, he passed away in 1963 at just 39 due to a heart attack. Despite his short life, Sabu’s legacy endures as a pioneer for Indian actors in international cinema, with his films remaining classics in adventure storytelling.
