Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy (1863-1940) was a Telugu writer and one of the earliest modern Telugu linguists and social visionaries during the British rule. He championed the cause of using a language comprehensible to the common man (‘Vyavaharika Bhasha’) as opposed to the scholastic language (‘Grandhika Bhasha’). ఈ రోజు మనం వ్రాస్తున్న ప్రతి వాడుక తెలుగుపదంలోనూ గిడుగు వారి ఆత్మ ఉంది. మన పత్రికలు, మన సాహిత్యం, మన పాఠ్యపుస్తకాలు వాడుక భాషలోనే ఉండడానికి కారణం వందేళ్ళ క్రిందట ఈ మహానుభావుడు సాగించిన ఒంటరి పోరాటం. అదొక్కటే కాదు గిడుగువారి జీవితమంతా జాతికంకితమే..! సవరప్రజల్ని బాగుచేద్దామని వాళ్ళ భాష నేర్చుకునే క్రమంలో వినికిడిశక్తిని కోల్పోయారు. 77 ఏళ్ల జీవితంలో 50 సంవత్సరాలు బ్రహ్మచెవుడుని భరిస్తూ ఉద్యమాలు సాగించారు. వాడుకభాషోద్యమం కోసం 48 యేళ్ళకే ఉద్యోగం వదిలేశారు. వీటన్నింటికీ మించి - గిడుగువారి జీవితంలోని చివరి దశాబ్దం ఒక పొలిటికల్ థ్రిల్లర్.! తానెంతో గౌరవించిన , తననెనంతో ఆదరించిన పర్లాకిమిడి రాజాగారిని రాజకీయంగా ఢీకొన్నారు. ఆయన ఆగ్రహానికి గురై, రాజావారి గుండాలు ఇంటిమీదికి డండెత్తినా అదరలేదు, బెదరలేదు. నమ్మిన సత్యం కోసం 56 సంవత్సరాలు జీవించిన పర్లాకిమిడి ఊరునీ, 22 సంవత్సరాలు నివసించిన ఇంటినీ వదిలేశారు. ప్రాణంలో ప్రాణంగా పాతికేళ్ళు తన ఉద్యమాల్లో భాగమైన పెద్దకొడుకుతో చివరినాలుగేళ్ళు మాటల్లేవ్. చివరికి ఆ కొడుకు చేతుల్లోనే కన్నుమాశారు. మరణించడానికి వారం ముందుకూడా భాషాప్రియులతో సమావేశమయ్యారు. అడుగడుగునా స్ఫూర్తిని రగిలించే , ఉత్కంఠ కలిగించే గిడుగు వెంకట రామమూర్తిగారి జీవిత విశేషాలు రెండవ/చివరిభాగం ఇది. ఇందులో ఆయన జీవితంలో ముఖ్యభాగమైన తెలుగు వ్యావహారిక భాషోద్యమం, పర్లాకిమిడి పొలిటికల్ థ్రిల్లర్ ..విశేషాలున్నాయి.
